Artist Statement
The sheer desperation of the human condition is no more evident to me than my reflections on experiences engaging with Aboriginal communities in the rural and remote regions of Australia. Whilst visiting Meekatharra in Western Australia I was struck by the racial disparity, lack of equity, and outright hostility towards Aboriginal families from the colonizers and international visitors who frequent, live in, or control these remote townships. Not until we see changes in the whole way we consider how to protect Country and kinship will we rise as a biological anomaly, a bunch of hypocrites until we action change and be in the world what we want to see change in the world too.
