Artist Statement
Over many balmy evenings, champagne or sparkling shiraz in hand I was afforded the company of artist David Gregson, my late Father-in-Law, and friend. David and I spent many days and nights together in the very last parts of his life, at his Kellerberrin studio, in his Darlington home, and at my wedding. David often took me out in his little painting van and showed me all the magical spots where he would wave his finger over the landscape, speak of color theory and philosophy which thoroughly enthralled me as a novice artist. I miss his enduring spirit and remind myself every day just how privileged I am to have learned all of those life lessons he was placed here for me to learn. This creative work brings together those flittering bird mornings, those baking hot days, and those cool, cackling crow evenings. These works were developed in conjunction with and completion of the Painting 292 unit at the School of Art, Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Western Australia.
