Artist Statement
My solo exhibition in 2003 at Gomboc Gallery brought to a close an epic journey in love, loss, and grief with the passing of my late Father-in-Law, David Gregson, and the divorce from his eldest Daughter, Dimity Gregson. Living in a home in Glen Forrest by myself after years of glorious fun, Family and conviviality were very emotionally challenging. I recall the words of my Father-in-Law resonating through me and the echo of his color theory discussions with me for days on end in his wheatbelt studio in Kellerberrin, Western Australia, or in his croft bar at his home and studio in Brook Road Darlington, Western Australia. The result was that I set out to produce a bright body of oil on canvas works which were sold off to many different private collectors at my solo exhibition in 2003 at Gomboc Gallery, Middle Swan hosted by Ron & Terrie Gomboc.
