Challenges For The Art Curriculum Educator


Abstract

The challenges for educators and teachers across all domains of creative practice now includes considerations of the burgeoning onset technological divide experienced by learners who are economically disadvantaged or experiencing trauma in their lives. To act with inclusivity and due ethical consideration, educational institutional settings are embracing an ‘always on’ and ‘anywhere’ learning modality, where mobile computing and networked connectivity conjoin in delivery and assessment of learning activities.

Alexander Hayes was invited to present on the 6th August 2003 to a cohort of students, teachers and parents at Guildford Grammar School in Perth, Western Australia. The focus of the presentation was on showcasing the ‘Learning Legends’ programme through the local Swan City Youth Services with representative works from the Artist in Residence programme hosted by Guildford Grammar which included young graffiti artists, Brody Rahaley and Damien .
