On August 16, 2013 I co-convened an event ‘mTECH: Mobile & Wearable Technologies - The Educational Context’ with Professor Robert Fitzgerald and Professor Katina Michael at the University of Canberra which brought together leaders including Michael Coghlan and Stephan Ridgway in mobile learning, augmented reality, engineering, and social sciences to discuss the implications that body-worn technologies may have on the Australian society. In focus were wearable lifelogging devices such as the Memoto camera and the Microsoft Sensecam as well as legacy systems and prototypes from the Oceania region which complemented the vast field of wearable computing at the AWE Eyewear Showcase, ISTAS13 Conference in Toronto, Canada.
Throughout this event and at most other activities at the INSPIRE Centre, the University of Canberra as a Professional Associate I wore a Memoto camera with data collecting eventually forming a large data set employed as a correlative study as integral to my PhD thesis.
"...A day-long forum within which to explore the likely impact of mobile and wearable technologies in an educational context. Mobile and wearable technologies represent growing innovation in human-computer interaction which has the potential to revolutionize training and education. This event will foster sharing experiences and visions of what this means for educators and students across all education sectors both now and in the near future." -
