Spatial@gov.2012 Conference
Alexander Hayes at spatial@gov.2012 Conference
On the 20th November 2012 I attended the ‘spatial@gov.2012’ conference which was held at the National Convention Centre in Canberra, Australia.
“… Highly-regarded international and local leaders will speak on the future directions of place-based policies; how these policies, in turn, are closely linked to the delivery of government services to its citizens wherever they are located, and drive the innovation in the commercial and research sectors necessary to achieve this.”
There were many geospatial, policy and regulatory bodies present and I took my time getting around each of the exhibit stands looking through the latest and greatest in innovation across industry.
“… What struck me walking around the spatial@gov.2012 Conference was the glaringly apparent lack of anything culturally tied with Australian place as largely these company representatives are selling us ways to better realise ‘Linking People, Policy and Place’ as their tote bags for delegates read in some bizarre twist of fate.”
