Artist Statement
The built environment, especially that in urban commercial precincts often lacks any real aesthetic appeal except perhaps that considered in the duality of the pure and the sublime as an entropic state. This small collection of works was constructed solely from found objects in and around the Robertson Park Studio which Alexander Hayes was a member of in 2000. The open studio exhibition drew positive critical acclaim from art critic Dr. David Bromfield at the time who was generous in his praise for the ‘urban collective’ and the need for ‘community engagement inspired by the catalyst of artists not part of commercial art production stables’.
