Artist Statement

Self-reflexive moments in professional arts practice are rare indeed, in my case the first came about prior to the 1993 South West Survey prize which gave me the impetus to picture myself standing in the kitchen of my beach side home, scratching my head and featureless. This was part of a huge body of works I completed under the mentorship and influence of Russel Sheridan, Linda Scrolys, and Jennie Doherty. This work was awarded a Highly Commended prize at the community exhibition and the attention of the Gallery Manager, Maggie Buchanan. An enduring friendship developed and my solo exhibition was confirmed soon after at the Bunbury Regional Gallery, featuring many different types of artworks with a focus on printmaking at which I am told, excelled. This work also served as the flagship moment to declare a joint exhibition with textiles artist Wendy Bandurski and photographer Paul Fenton at Jalindia Gallery in the Leschenault Inlet of Bunbury, Western Australia
