Abstract / Article
“… The ‘Ruby 2' Fire Sculpture looked almost too good for its fate as it was made ready for the fireworks display.”
After many weeks of creative work and avid construction, the first Ruby 1 disaster firmly locked in our minds (where I almost lost my life to drowning and put a nail gun pin through my left hand), Russel Sheridan, Geoff Lummis, Michael Bandurski and I set about towing the ship into the Leschenault Inlet and setting her on fire. Spectacularly, with fireworks and other surprises hidden on board it exploded in a massive fireball raining ashes down on the nearby audience, and if my memory serves me correctly someone incurred a fine from the Maritime Services for the Wespine refuse that escaped the barge it floated upon.
