Abstract / Article

“… The Bunbury foreshore was crowded with spectators on Sunday night as people crammed around the waters' edge to watch the Aqua Spectacular Ruby Red II fire sculpture and fireworks. People flocked to the Leschenault Inlet foreshore and jostled for vantage points while the sculpture was illuminated by spotlights.

The sculpture, built by artists Russell Sheridan and Alexander Hayes, was in the shape of a 50-foot galleon, complete with flags. To the crowd's delight a boat cruised out to the galleon and lit one end, accompanied by ritual drumming over the public-address system. As the fire slowly died, the first fireworks exploded and the crowd's attention was taken to the sky. It was a colourful end to the Sunday Aqua Spectacular celebrations before the fun and games on Monday”.
