Abstract / Article

The Education Supports students at Kalamunda Senior High School, Western Australia are involved in a ten-week sculpture project being conducted by teachers Paul Gray and Alexander Hayes. This project will culminate in a presentation to the school community of a series of welded steel sculptures, based on the theme ‘flight’ mounted on limestone podiums. They will be displayed as an aesthetic enhancement for the gardens of the Administration quadrangle. This project has been made possible through funding provided by the Department of Family and Children's Services in conjunction with funds allocated by the Principal, Barry Kennedy. A key component of this project has been to involve all the Education Support students in hands-on workshops over Term Four under the supervision of artist and educator, Alexander Hayes. Documentation of the project has been kindly organized by talented photography student Bryanne Smith, under tutorage by teacher Keith Sillitoe. This project will be opened at 11.00 AM, Thursday 19th November by school Principal Barry Kennedy and all are welcome to attend.
