Position
In early 1995 I was approached by Dr. Trish & Dr. John Sherwood, as well as Terry & Dr. Sandra Wooltorton as an undergraduate to consider teaching at the Bunbury Community School which was being established in Prosser Street, Bunbury Western Australia. In late 1995 I was interviewed and awarded the role as inaugural full-time teaching role as a Pre-school teacher. I managed a class of 16 children and had a teacher’s aide part-time to assist, with lots of support from the parents and teachers of the school including Cheryl Colecliffe, Jermey Potter, Terry Stanner, and Jenny Martin. I was also responsible for developing the whole school art curriculum, organizing ‘art’ incursions and excursions, conducting the material audits, and reporting to various agencies for children taken into care and placed with our school.
Outcomes
Research, preparation, and development of art curriculum for early childhood teaching;
Conduct teaching activities full-time with up to 16 students;
Liaise with parents and attend parent-teacher nights, meetings regarding school development;
Convene meetings and produce term and annual reports of child progress.
