Position

This was my first ever paid employment position registered with the Australian Taxation office. The role was on a part-time basis as Senior Trainee where I was responsible for oversight of three (3) other junior milk runners. My main role was to collect, collate and acquit the money being collected from milk delivery runs throughout the Sutherland Shire. The business had three (3) main runs; (a) Kirrawee through to Grays Point; (b) Gymea through to Gymea Bay; and (c) Miranda through to Yowie Bay. I was a Junior trainee for six (6) months and then the proprietor recognized my attention to detail and promoted me to Senior Trainee which meant I rode in the front cab, and the three (3) juniors picked up monies and dropped them to me to collate. I was retrenched from the role when the proprietor went into receivership when the laws of New South Wales changed and the 'home delivery' monopoly was collapsed, as milk could then be sold anywhere with the correct refrigeration requirements met, including petrol service stations.
