Coven As We Keep
Artist Statement
Our dreams when recounted in therapy often provide us with answers to the key manifestations of fear and the objects, sights, feelings, sounds or tastes they inhabit. Our patterns of living and daily habits and rituals all point at what we have either processed in our dream state or have yet to resolve, in many instances from years or decades prior. Trauma propounds the need to clearly delineate between what is cogent and real in our awake state and that of our subconscious which also plays out in our dreaming sleep state. In most cases where that sleep is constantly interrupted, poor sleep health contributes significantly to psychosis, paranoia and states of abject unconsciousness. As a creative body of photographic works, ‘Coven as We Keep’ brings forward dark spaces in which to ponder, evocative natural settings rendered eerie and a sense of fear omniscient.

Further Details
This body of photography was predominantly shot using my iPhone 6S whilst I travelled through the south west regional coast towns of NSW, then across through to the Dandenong Ranges of Victoria Australia visiting friends during the heart of winter and then a few more photos here in Canberra, Australia. During this time I was deeply affected by my time spent with my middle Daughter Amelia Manon, my early days connection with Magali McDuffie, my partner and was in the process of resigning from the ‘Serving Our Country’ project at the Australia National University in Canberra, Australia.
