Elearning09: BWCs in the Trades

Abstract

BWCs are increasingly being deployed in engineering and trades related industries where workskills training is labour intensive, time consuming and varying in effectiveness, quality and efficacy. The use of point of view or BWC technology can be used to capture workforce related tasks and activities as high definition digital film, which can then be used in teaching learning both face-to-face and in virtual training settings. The researcher conducted workshops demonstrating the VIO POV (Mil-Spec Monkey 2008) helmet camera to representatives of the Manufacturing, Engineering, Construction and Transport (MECaT) teams from around Australia and showcased the Streamfolio application as a repository for digital data produced from POV body worn camera equipment.
