Abstract / Article

“… Try, try again is the motto of Bunbury artist Russell Sheridan, who has been commissioned for the second year to build a fire sculpture for the Peters Aqua Spectacular. Last year's vessel sank. But this year Mr Sheridan said the boat would be bigger and better, and he was confident it would ride the waves triumphantly.

This year's fire sculpture has been sponsored by the Lotteries Commission, South West Development Authority, SCM, Union Steel, Wesfi and Wespine. In addition, promotions have been organised to raise a $5000 shortfall.

These include giving a sponsor naming rights on the vessel, which is at the moment named ‘Ruby 2’. The boat is to be sailed past an estimated 23,000 visitors to the Aqua Spectacular and set alight as a burning finale to the celebrations.”
